Who are we?
The Real Estate Advisory Council was established in terms of the Real Estate Professionals Act, 2003 in order to provide for the regulation of activities and conduct of the real estate profession in Botswana and other matters incidental thereto.
Composition of the Council
The Council comprises of nine members appointed as follows:
- Four members appointed by the Ministry of whom at least two are civil servants representing the Attorney Generals Chambers and the Minister respectively, and one an employee of the local authority;
- Three members of the Real Estate Institute of Botswana who are elected by the Institute and appointed by the Minister; and
- Two members from the private sector who are nominated by the Real Estate Institute of Botswana and appointed by the Minister.
The Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected by members from their number and appointed by the Minister. Members other than the Chairman are appointed to hold office for a period not more than 2 years.
